Andrea Williams - Assistant and Choreographer
Andrea began her performance career in gymnastics at six years old. She took lessons for five years in junior high school and was in show choir as well. In high school, she started cheerleading, where her squad won second place at State two years in a row. The team placed fourth at Nationals. Andrea was part of a singing group during high school where she would perform at festivals and the state fair.
Andrea has been involved in several singing competitions, including the gospel competition through Limelight Studios, where she won first place. She also won first place in a talent competition in Maysville, Oklahoma. Andrea is new to all of the dance styles and is learning and excelling in them quickly. She started Lyra's Muse the first day we had class and has been a major part of the company ever since.
Josh Hanson- Dancer
Josh joined Lyra's in September 2008, with no previous background in dance. He has already come a long way and we look forward to seeing his future progress with the company.
We would like to thank the previous dancers of Lyra's Muse. All of their help and support has put us where we are today and we have learned so much from each of these friendships! Thank you.

Lyra's Muse Dance Company was founded for the purpose of giving adult dancers a chance to perform as a hobby and take dance classes for fun. We act as a team, where all of the members are treated equally and are given the opportunity to choreograph dances and vote on important issues. We hold close to the belief that as adult dancers, it is imperative that every person feels that their opinions and ideas are heard and appreciated. We feel that the overall result from this approach enables our dancers to be much happier and more satisfied.
This sets us apart from nearly all other dance groups, where most of the time, the director is the only one with any say in decision making. Instead, we strive to use management techniques to find each dancer's strong points and use them to better the group as a whole. Because we view this as a hobby, we do not expect our dancers to place the company as a higher priority than their jobs, families, or school. Typically, dance studios, schools, and companies are extremely political and competitive. We feel that this is unnecessary and unfair to the dancers. Everyone should have an opportunity to perform and no one will ever be told that they aren't good enough!
We hope to set an example for the greater area of Oklahoma City artists in that we believe in working together to support other artists, instead of just ourselves. If we could all achieve that goal, we would surely have a much stronger arts community. Lyra's actively supports our fellow dance companies as well as the roller derby leagues by volunteering our service of performance any time that we are needed. We actively seek out other artists in our community to work with as well. Check out our links page to see some of the artists we support.
If you have a passion for dance and performance and are serious about being dedicated to improving yourself as a dancer, then we are happy to have you!
